The exact math

No hidden multipliers. The calculator applies one formula and shows every term:

nrouter_bill = provider_cost × (1 + tier_fee% / 100) public_bill = provider_cost × (1 + 5.5% / 100) savings = public_bill − nrouter_bill
  • Pay as you go

  • Pro

    0% platform fee. Pure pass-through provider cost: $50/mo or $500/yr.

Provider cost is the exact amount the underlying model provider charges; nRouter reads it from the canonical cost header and never marks the inference itself up. The 5.5% baseline reflects OpenRouter's publicly listed credit fee as of June 2026. Your actual bill depends on which models you call. This tool estimates the gateway fee, not the per-model rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cost & Billing Questions

Clear answers about our platform fee, credit calculations, and provider pass-through pricing.

How does the nRouter cost calculator work?

Enter your current monthly LLM provider spend. The calculator treats that figure as your raw provider cost, then adds the nRouter platform fee for your chosen plan on top — a flat 4% on Pay as you go (no minimum fee), or 0% on Pro ($50/mo or $500/yr). It compares the result against a 5.5% public-gateway markup so you can see your savings.

Is the platform fee added on top or deducted from credits?

The platform fee is always added on top of your credit purchase. You receive 100% of the credits you buy. On Pay as you go you pay 104% of provider cost, and on Pro you pay exactly the provider cost (0% fee).

Why is Pro cheaper than OpenRouter?

Pro charges a 0% platform fee — you pay only what the underlying provider charges. nRouter earns revenue from the Pro subscription ($50/mo or $500/yr), not from a per-call markup. Public gateways typically add a 5.5% markup on every request.

How we make money

0% on Pro is not a loss leader

On Pro, nRouter earns nothing on the platform fee. You pay exactly what the provider charges. Our revenue comes from the Pro subscription ($50/mo or $500/yr), paid straight into your credit balance. We are paid for the platform (multi-tenancy, billing, governance, guardrails, one key across every provider), not for taxing each token. That is why the math above is published in full: there is nothing to hide.
